Distribution of Palo Alto Support (250+ signatures)
We thank all of you for your support, NFLS2
City Council did NOT send the Project to the Planning Commission.
City Council did NOT send the Project to the Planning Commission.
What do we want at 801 Alma?
- City Council should send the Project to the Planning Commission.
And follow appropriate review procedures.
- Building size should be reduced by 20%.
The project exceeds SOFA2 standards by 62%.
- Increased play space for children.
Oaks Court in SOFA2 has 4 times more open space.
- More parking than 66 spaces planned for a 106 bedroom community.
SOFA2 is already badly under parked.
- Private open space for residents.
SOFA2 requires private open space.
OAK Court is a much better Affordable Housing Project than 801 Alma.
We compared Oak Court with 801 Alma and found the Palo Alto really can build a very good project for senior and family affordable housing.
Same Neighborhood, same served community but otherwise two VERY different Affordable Housing Projects

Will Alma Street be pedestrian friendly?
There is no setback along Alma St.
The building wall rises 4 stories straight up, with only very tiny bedroom windows.
It will take several years before the bare walls are hidden by the trees.
The Project is being pushed through with
only an Architectural Design Review.
The reduced project is now on an accelerated track with only ONE formal Architectural Review Board Meeting.
The Board Members were strictly limited in the scope of their discussion and could not question the lack of Private open space, Building size (FAR), and Setbacks. If you would to like to view what happened at the Architectural Review Board Meeting, the video is available online. Click the "Watch Now" under Item #1 on the following page,
You can see that the major subjects of discussion were the color of the building and where the benches should be. This Project needs to be sent to the Planning and Transportation Board for a proper review.
