Safety 03/29/2009

Concerned about the safety of my employees + customers, especially in the lane behind 800 High Condos

Has anyone who is a decision maker for this really thought about this from the standpoint from someone who lives at 800 High? While one might be able to conjure up reasons to have this project, you need to seriously think about how this affects the current residents of 800 High. Clearly no one is watching out for our interests.

1. This will dramatically reduce the natural light entering the west side of the building. The outdoor hallways will always be dark. 2. Why would the city want to make this particular block so congested? 3. The unevitable construction noise is unjustifiable and the neighbors should in some way be compensated for this inconvenience if it is to take place. If not, I would ask to switch residences with the mayor of Palo Alto or other Palo Alto legislators during the time of the construction.

Too large! 03/28/2009

I strongly support low income housing but not this large and one condition for housing 75 children

Stop building so many high density projects in Palo Alto!

The building has to be kept to the original agreement, the codes, and the original height. Also, concerning parking, Emerson Street and Addison Avenue, in all directions from their intersection, are already totally full of parked cars every week-day.

SOFA-2 too dense 03/27/2009

Homer is already too crowded with cars and Whole foods traffic. The original plans which were in place when we bought were for 50 units total. The neighborhood feeling of SOFA is turning into a dense urban environment. Addison is already over crowded. We work very hard and live in a small townhouse to be able to send our kids there when they are old enough. I don't want to be turned away.

The 800 High Street garage is poorly designed to begin with, with no designated space for pedestrians to walk out of the garage forcing them onto the ramp. To add 200 or more additional cars to this mess is absolutely ludicrous. Alma is already a main thoroughfare---keep the cars on Alma!
As an owner at 800 High, I know that project was similarly opposed as being too big for the neighborhood and in many ways I feel the opposition was right. To allow another building sharing the same block to be even bigger with inadequate parking just compounds the problems.

I work in downtown Palo Alto. Parking and traffic are already beyond what I consider an acceptable limit.  I often avoid the downtown (and consequently the businesses there) because of it.  This project makes it worse.
