Location is a problem. 03/30/2009
There needs to be an infrastructure before building more buildings, and filling them up with more people. If the builder would like to accommodate the building with another school, another parking structure, another park... Addison Elementary school is literarly bursting at the seems. Has there ever been any thought to putting housing structures that are affordable in a less congested part of palo alto? It seems to me there are other areas that could be considered. 3/30/2009 20:22:30 L. K.. Forest Ave No exceptions! 03/30/2009
Save our neighborhood! I have been repeatedly disappointed in the Planning Department allowing developers exceptions and variances, so they can build overly tall, overly populated buildings. Adding low income housing does not mean it is always best for the city. Having green practices in the new building does not always cut energy consumption- I have yet to see one of these new developments that are using less water and energy than the building they are replacing. Please slow the multiple housing growth in downtown Palo Alto, you have already taken all our parking in front of our homes and forced Addison to lose precious play space to portables. 3/30/2009 21:33:47 M.B. Lincoln Ave Congestion Ramp 03/13/2009
Too much congestion of cars, especially coming and going at business hours, also too many people for this area of town. Very bad location for school children....buses and certainly no play area space. Why not a good senior's residence? That would take care of many of the above. 3/13/2009 16:04:09 K.D. 800 high I am very much supportive of affordable housing in Palo Alto and all other cities in the Bay Area. However, this parcel at 801 Alma should only be for senior affordable housing, not families and children. Alma is not a suitable place for children to play, either is the roof of a four story building! The addition of families makes the entire project too dense for the size of the property. There is simply not enough room for the open space that should be included for children and parents. 3/13/2009 8:24:10 A.C. 800 Hight Street Too many people 03/12/2009
I am especially concerned that with the demographics, there could be in excess of 100 children, who would have no place, except a limited play area (inside). This would result in unsafe conditions, with children forced to play and hang out on the adjoining sidewalks, near high traffic areas (Alma, Homer). Also, too many people (98+ units) for the space involved and lack of open space, due to density. Narrow 20 foot "valley" between 800 High and 801 Alma. Potential for traffic accidents, with large increase in the number of cars entering and leaving garage by the same ramp area. 3/12/2009 19:30:12 C.C. 800 Hight Street |
