Sustainable community 03/21/2009
How can Palo Alto hope to be a sustainable community when we keep adding more people to a city that is already unsustainable. We do not have space on our roads, in our schools, in our libraries or in our parks and playing fields for more residents. Our city already does not provide the infrastructure needs and support services for our current residents. (Think crumbling streets and old dilapidated police buildings). We need fewer people and a commitment by our civic leaders to support our current community. 3/15/2009 18:28:42 T.P. Palo Alto Ave I am very much supportive of affordable housing in Palo Alto and all other cities in the Bay Area. However, this parcel at 801 Alma should only be for senior affordable housing, not families and children. Alma is not a suitable place for children to play, either is the roof of a four story building! The addition of families makes the entire project too dense for the size of the property. There is simply not enough room for the open space that should be included for children and parents. 3/13/2009 8:24:10 A.C. 800 Hight Street Too many people 03/12/2009
I am especially concerned that with the demographics, there could be in excess of 100 children, who would have no place, except a limited play area (inside). This would result in unsafe conditions, with children forced to play and hang out on the adjoining sidewalks, near high traffic areas (Alma, Homer). Also, too many people (98+ units) for the space involved and lack of open space, due to density. Narrow 20 foot "valley" between 800 High and 801 Alma. Potential for traffic accidents, with large increase in the number of cars entering and leaving garage by the same ramp area. 3/12/2009 19:30:12 C.C. 800 Hight Street |
