The 800 High Street garage is poorly designed to begin with, with no designated space for pedestrians to walk out of the garage forcing them onto the ramp. To add 200 or more additional cars to this mess is absolutely ludicrous. Alma is already a main thoroughfare---keep the cars on Alma! As an owner at 800 High, I know that project was similarly opposed as being too big for the neighborhood and in many ways I feel the opposition was right. To allow another building sharing the same block to be even bigger with inadequate parking just compounds the problems. 3/27/2009 17:53:00 E.C. 800 High Street Congestion Ramp 03/13/2009
Too much congestion of cars, especially coming and going at business hours, also too many people for this area of town. Very bad location for school children....buses and certainly no play area space. Why not a good senior's residence? That would take care of many of the above. 3/13/2009 16:04:09 K.D. 800 high Too many people 03/12/2009
I am especially concerned that with the demographics, there could be in excess of 100 children, who would have no place, except a limited play area (inside). This would result in unsafe conditions, with children forced to play and hang out on the adjoining sidewalks, near high traffic areas (Alma, Homer). Also, too many people (98+ units) for the space involved and lack of open space, due to density. Narrow 20 foot "valley" between 800 High and 801 Alma. Potential for traffic accidents, with large increase in the number of cars entering and leaving garage by the same ramp area. 3/12/2009 19:30:12 C.C. 800 Hight Street |
