Building size TOO BIG; Parking HORRIBLE AS IS; Traffic BAD AS IS. Concerned also about school crowding w/more housing for families.

Safety 03/29/2009

Concerned about the safety of my employees + customers, especially in the lane behind 800 High Condos

1. This will dramatically reduce the natural light entering the west side of the building. The outdoor hallways will always be dark. 2. Why would the city want to make this particular block so congested? 3. The unevitable construction noise is unjustifiable and the neighbors should in some way be compensated for this inconvenience if it is to take place. If not, I would ask to switch residences with the mayor of Palo Alto or other Palo Alto legislators during the time of the construction.

Has anyone who is a decision maker for this really thought about this from the standpoint from someone who lives at 800 High? While one might be able to conjure up reasons to have this project, you need to seriously think about how this affects the current residents of 800 High. Clearly no one is watching out for our interests.

SOFA-2 too dense 03/27/2009

Homer is already too crowded with cars and Whole foods traffic. The original plans which were in place when we bought were for 50 units total. The neighborhood feeling of SOFA is turning into a dense urban environment. Addison is already over crowded. We work very hard and live in a small townhouse to be able to send our kids there when they are old enough. I don't want to be turned away.

- the building is too high and too big

- will generate parking and traffic problems for everyone in the area

- an additional concern it seems to me, given the limited availability of building space inside Palo Alto close to downtown, the choice of building a low income project in this location is ill-thought. What the city might be better off doing, would be to allow a high end or luxury complex, perhaps with some good quality commercial space on the ground floor. If budget money is a concern given the overall situation in California then why not maximize your odds of actually attracting money. The inventory of high end condo style housing in Palo Alto is quite low, most apartments complex are nowhere near where they should be as amenities, modernity, quality given the status Palo Alto supposedly has.

- we would be curious to know how much money will the city of Palo Alto make or lose out of this project. The timing seems poorly chosen for a break-even or profitable endeavor. There has been enough losses already.  Why not just postpone building a charitable project until conditions improve.

Parking 03/21/2009

Parking on my street is terrible! We have to 16 houses + 3 driveways.
My car has sustained thousand of $ damage from Day Parkers.+ residents (elderly, burdened w/ groceries, etc) cannot find parking for blocks.

The area between Homer and Channing is an area of narrow streets, no parking for residents who don't have a garage, is overrun by parking from people who work or go downtown to shop.  This is NOT Manhattan, it is a small Northern California town.  The gigantic monster on Homer has not yet had any rentals and heavens forbid should it be get some offices, this area will be a nightmare, not to mention putting up yet another monstrosity in this area.

Rampant growth 03/14/2009

Growth in Palo Alto downtown area is rampant in housing density (increasing) and building heights (getting higher) -- leading to more traffic congestion and air polluting. The proposed project is a perfect example of the rampant growth.  I do not support this project going forward as planned -- it MUST be scaled back by 25-50%.
Thank you
