I am a current "Permit" parker in the 800 High Street garage. I feel that it is irresponsible of developers and the city to allow a new building that is too large a project for the current area. With the down economy there are many vacant buildings already. It will be painfully pointless to let one developer come in and inconveniently re-suffle existing facilities and their occupants and users versus repurposing other existing structures that could benefit from their occupancy. I have always sought to park near my place of work and it helped to keep my car in good condition. At one point I had to park on the street, to the inconvenience of residents, and my car need much more maintenance because of damage from the elements and other drivers carelessness. I do not wish to have my parking permit given away to someone else!
